My first venture into cooking was making goetta, an old German breakfast dish that was made by combining leftover pork with cooked oatmeal and seasonings. This was then put into a loaf dish and allowed to set up before it was fried in slices in bacon grease. Delish! Finally I gave up the search and just reverted to making biscuits, American style.
