Ive got to share my experiences with a lot of people and Im happy to report nobody miss me TOO much. The weird thing about traveling is, you miss everybody but nobody really, truely, misses you. Rootie Tootie Fresh and Fruity Flavor Explosion! June 30, 2013. Many of you have heard me talk about the crazy amount of sugar typically used in shave ice syrup. Syrup from concentrate is generally made with 4 ounces of the flavor concentrate, 1 gallon of water and 5 POUNDS of sugar! Just thinking about that makes my blood sugar spike! We have been experimenting with making syrups out of fruit and a much lower concentration of sugar the simple syrup we are using is about 3 parts water to 1 part sugar.
