For this exercise I focused on conveying form by looking at tonal values seen. I drew initial sketches using graphite on sugar paper to help access a range of tone. Mapping out areas of tone, to build form. Filed under Practice of painting Learning Log. Exercise 1- Drawing the human form. Oil pastels worked over with white spirit. I started this exercise by sketching a Silver birch tree while out on a walk one afternoon, taking a photograph for reference to use when I was later back at home. OCA The Practice of Painting.
