Monday, May 16, 2011. We set out to see it with my brother, sister-in-law, and their three kids. As we drove North, out of town, the landscape became hilly. Perhaps because of the hills, I find this part of Iowa especially beautiful. The road twists and turns though woods until it comes to the massive concrete wall that holds back the water, the lake created when the river was damned. At every step, there was a fossil. Why Send Books to Prisoners? Education is one of the few methods proven to reduce the likelihood of a prisoner returning to prison after release. Hundreds of people volunteer their time at Prison Book every year and do everything from sort the mail to post office runs. People come on their own and in groups. Thanks to everyone!
