The series of events that ensue lead Harold to meet another character by the name of Ana Pascal. Unlike Harold Ana is lead by desires and passions rather than a day to day compulsion to awake count and sleep. These two characters are polar opposites to the extreme; Ana has a lust for life as where Harold has a desire just to remain living.

Was he born to be a fictional character in her book? Or did he just kind of appear out of nowhere and magically obtain a job and a life with fake memories. That was just something I thought about while watching the movie.
