I noticed that the web site stated " We were asked to submit a lesson plan on a Second World War topic, one weve used successfully in the past." They also stated " The lesson plans will be compiled on a CD and distributed when we are in France. I sent in one based on an excerpt from Farley Mowats book,. And No Birds Sang,. Reflections on family, teaching, travel, and life. As a school we are participating in a five-year-long project to remember the fallen of the Great War. Names are projected on the wall, and include victims from all the warring nations. This fall we honour the thousands who died one hundred years ago, in 1914. After the war a military hospital was built in Vancouver, and many of the men who lived out their lives there were gas victims.
Once or twice in a career a really outstanding opportunity comes along, and this is one. Please check back for more photos, reflections, and student writing. Thank you for joining us here for the past two weeks.
