Many of the largest threats to biodiversity affect entire communities, the interactions between species, and how community-level processes impact the functioning of ecosystems. My interests lie in understanding how the theories of community ecology can be applied to conservation issues.

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Forest Resources at the Universty of Minnesota. Where my research and teaching both focus on natural resource policy, politics and governance. Prior to that I was a postdoc in the Environmental Studies Program. Where I helped develop the SESMAD. And Department of Political Science.
