Mega Flock of Little Terns plus Plenty of Waders at Oare. Mega flock of Little Terns. I paid an evening visit to Oare Marshes yesterday the 6th August in the hope of seeing the large number of Little Terns. That had been reported and wow what a sight it was to , the most i can ever recall seeing in a single flock , the agreed amount was 220 birds roosting on the East Flood , every so often they were spooked by a juvenile gull and took to the air giving a tremendous spectacle.

Sunday, 9 August 2015. A Short-eared Owl at Farlington Marshes in August! The water level on the lake was high and as such the high tide roost was not as I had hoped. There were 150 or so Common Redshank. The stream was not that much better with another 50 Black-tailed Godwits,. A dozen or so Lapwing. Black-tailed Godwit on the Stream Farlington Marshes.

Outer Hebrides - Day 6 7. We awoke on our last morning on North Uist to the still astonishing sound of Corncrake,. Before heading for the early Ferry. The ferry terminal at Lochmaddy seemed an equally promising-looking area for keeping an eye on while we waited to depart, as the other side.

Ringers Report - July 2015. Kieran Lawrence - Whitburn CP, Durham. July 1st saw the start to my 2 month storm-petrel ringing season, ringing each night at Whitburn CP, Durham with help from NGB Daniel McGibbon and ex-NGB Tom Middleton. By the end of the month we had amassed a respectable 126 new birds and 3 controls, 1 of which having been caught at Eyemouth the precious year but yet to find out about the other 2! Non-Hierarchical birding along the South Coast of England. No Lists, No Masters. Monday, 17 August 2015. Spotted Flycatchers at Oving and Church Norton. It was childcare for me all Saturday but some diversion was provided by two Spotted Flycatchers. In the garden in Oving. better not mention the two Pied Flycatchers. A shout from HR on Facebook and a zoom down to Climping on Saturday night got me Long-Eared. L in flight and Short-Eared Owl. At Church Norton for the Wryneck.
