Female-type Ferruginous Duck X Pochard. th of November 2011, Johnny Madsen found what at first looked like a Ferruginous Duck, in a small pond near Stege, 75 km south of Copenhagen. The 2nd Yellow-legged Gull for Satakunta County. The same individual was seen in Uusikaupunki fishing harbour couple of days earlier. This represents only the 30th individual for Finland if accepted. Welcome to follow my occasional birding in Finland and other countries around the Western Palearctic. Slow winter birding in Maunula. Yesterday I had some time to go out and looks what kind of birds are wintering near our house. I went to Maunulanpuro, which normally holds some Dippers this time of the year. No dippers this time, but I had nice flock of birds feeding near the Dipper stream. Here is few photos I took there. Pine Bunting in Kirkkonummi 21. First better bird was Lapland Lon.

The site had the following in the homepage, "Queen Eider and photo bombing gannet." I noticed that the web site stated " In Fuglafirði I found a Northern Eider ssp." They also stated " It is thought to be a somewhat regular visitor, but Ive never seen one myself. The orange bill, position of the nostrils and the sails all indicate borealis. Bottom line is that my interest in eiders has been tricked. Maybe a Spectacled, v-nigrum, dresseri or a male Stellers is around the corner? Thayers Gull thing. Saturday, July 29, 2017. British Columbia - Canada 2017. My connection with Canada started about 27 years ago when I was posted there with the British Army. Since then I have lived in two of their amazing provinces - Alberta 1992 - 1995 and British Columbia 2002 - 2011. Whilst living in Alberta I volunteered at the. Alberta Society for Injured Birds of Prey. And began learning bird banding. In BC I spent 9 wonderful years birding in some of the most pristine and breath taking environments.
Saturday, 17 March 2018. Keur Macene in early spring. Having gone out birding locally last Saturday, this was followed up with a much longer trip on Sunday. It was originally planned to head to Mzela. We went there pretty much directly. On arrival we found that although some of the wetland next to the village had dried up since the New Year, most of it was intact.
