Cholsey Wildlife

Welcome to a log of wildlife seen in and around the village of Cholsey, Oxfordshire, UK. Felt quite warm in a few places, a hint of spring and some incoming migration! Lollingdon hill hosted 5 Meadow Pipit. This morning that gave a hint of incoming migration, hopefully numbers should build up in the next few weeks.

Background Info and Access Instructions. At last the first spring migrants have been spotted on the Meadow! A couple of days ago Steve Goddard had the first SWALLOW. Of the year hawking over the river and today I saw four SAND MARTINS. Over the river opposite the sailing club. Has been singing in the Trap Grounds for a while now and I heard my first Blackcap. Wessex Wanderings

Rambles around the chalk downs of Southern England. Photographs of flowers, buildings, landscape, fungi and anything else that takes my eye on walks. Friday, 7 August 2015. Has started, I explored the reserves at Lids Bottom and Oven Bottom. I had seen a sign for Lids Bottom on my Blewbury Christmas Day walk. I thought it looked interesting enough to visit in the summer. Walking down to it gives fine views over Blewbury village. I then walked back and down to Oven Bottom.

West Country Wild Moments of light in West Britain and Ireland

Moments of light in West Britain and Ireland. That low hush you hear with your diaphragm rather than your ears. All night it accompanies your sleep and your waking moments; wild, slightly menacing, yet reassuring. All day it is there, bracing you against the world. The beach at dawn is a secret, special place. Rose hints in the sky reflect in wet sand.

PARSED CONTENT

The site had the following in the homepage, "On 29 January 2018 by bramblejungle." I noticed that the web site stated " Another RSPB annual Big Garden Birdwatch." They also stated " And ten years data from the local patch click the image for an expanded view in Flickr. As always, some regular visitors were absent jackdaws, collared doves, goldfinches but there were more house sparrows than ever. This year a sparrowhawk did turn up, but it didnt catch anything, and the small birds re-emerged from the brambles within a few minutes. At the end of the month."
