People can lose their lives in libraries. They ought to be warned. I am retiring from the blogosphere. I started this blog as just a reader who talked about books. My reviews were probably pretty terrible, but it was a way to feel connected to other readers. Then I got into publishing and began blogging about life as a literary assistant which then became life as a literary agent. I do have a tumblr. Now and I will still answer questions over there.

The Patron Saint of Ugly. This has easily become one of my favorite books. It is a beautiful book filled with memorable characters and places. Marie Manilla has captured an essence that is often difficult to put down in words. It is one part rural literature, one part Southern Gothic, one part Magical Realism.
