Yay for Whatever I Want! December 10, 2008. Being given free space to talk about whatever I want, I figure why not compare Koalas and Hamsters; which are cuter? However, that has little to do with philosophy, so let me take a more interesting topic. This is a topic that I will have to do a lot more thinking about to reach any conclusions.
Everyone is out for their own self interest by nature. even when you do something for someone else it still nbenefits you because it makes u feel good. I believe anything you do for yourself is rational. You are trying to make yourself as happy as possiible so what is unrational about that? Even suicide is rational because you must have a reason you no longer want to lives which means you have given it thought and are not acting irrationally.
Aristotle believes that virtue is essential to living a moral life. Under such beliefs, any extreme would be considered immoral, and therefore murder, which is certainly an extreme, would be viewed as an immoral action. Under these circumstances any act of murder will undoubtedly be considered immoral. However, Aristotle tends to have a greater focus on the individuals rather than the actions.
Mill gave a very clear and useful judge to what is moral and immoral. Even though there were some flaws in his explanations his theory gives a feasible way to pursue a moral life.
Hobbes brings up this excellent point and gives us these thoughts to ponder about. A government is made up of inividuals and each individual has their own morals. Their morals are usually based only off of actions and not seen in the eyes of their motives or will.
