A chronicle of our time in Egypt. Saturday, December 15, 2012. From the title of this post, you may be thinking that I am referring to myself. Oh, how wrong you would be. This past week a small band of friends piled into a few cars and wound our way up and out of Maadi to the Moquattam hills in search of the fabled Virginian Pub and Cafe. It felt as though the white sheets had been removed seconds before we arrived.

Since their excavation these boats remained relatively inconspicuous until the mid-1980s when a study of the two hulls in the United States was conducted. However, the two boats in Cairo remained largely unpublished. This site combines research, personal observation, and recording of the Cairo boats over many years to reveal more unique characteristics of the hulls and will facilitate a future study of the group as a whole.
