얼마전 집에서 양배추 쌈을 먹었다. 그걸 먹으면서 문득 양배추의 또다른 쓰임새가 생각났다. 예전에 아이를 낳고 나서 흔히 말하는 젖몸살로 무척 고생을 했었다. 젖몸살이라고 하면 모르는 사람들도 있을 것 같아서 잠시 검색의 힘을 빌려 보자면. 젖몸살은 분만 후 수유 중에 발생하는 유방의 통증이나 전신적 발열을 통칭하는 표현이다. 즉, 수유와 관련한 몸살이라는 의미로 쓰이며, 수유 중의 유방울혈이나 유방염이 모두 젖몸살에 포함될 수 있다. 젖몸살은 아파본 사람들만이 알 정도로 무척이나 아프다. 오죽하면 수유를 포기하고 약을 먹고 심하게 아픈 사람은 아이 낳는 것보다 더 아프다고 하겠는가. 도저히 감당이 안돼 마사지사를 불렀다. 예전에 간호사를 하거나 조리원 한 분들이 많은 것으로 안다.
