Endorsed by the Philadelphia School District. Ackerman Out, Challenges Ahead. After weeks of speculation, Arlene Ackerman is officially out as Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia. He has expected the news for quite some time. He barely batted an eyelash in the midst of it all.

Established in 2006, the Keystone State Education Coalition is a growing grass roots, non-partisan public education advocacy group of several hundred locally elected, volunteer school board members and administrators from school districts throughout Pennsylvania. Our mission is to evaluate, discuss and inform our boards, district constituents and legislators on legislative issues of common interest and to facilitate active engagement in public education advocacy.

Saturday, September 3, 2011. It is the beginning of September and time to look back on the successful and not so successful endeavors in the garden. Although my attention to the garden has begun to wain as usual, I have been more disciplined this year. Despite my efforts the garden looks tired and unkempt. Winter Squash - of course took over the yard but was quite productive and I love the Delicata variety.
