Long ago, a hot springs boiled out of the earth in the Sangre de Christo Mountains of northern New Mexico. The Pueblo Indians gathered to experience the healings that occurred in the hot mineral waters. The hot springs finally dried up, and the Spanish colonists settled, building a church at the old hot springs site. Healings continued, and the red earth in the floor of the church was said to contain powerful healing properties.
