2017 - Our 27th Annual Show. Galway Bay FM broadcast from the show grounds all day and Wagon Wheel kept the music going in the outdoor arena. Judges were impressed with the calibre of animals in the pony, horse, cattle and sheep sections. The dog, pets and poultry show were smaller than usual. National Heritage Week and the Castle. Claregalway Castle is a fully restored 15th century Anglo-Norman tower house. Situated on the banks of the River Clare, in Claregalway village, on the N17 road, the castle is just under 10 km from Galway City. The castle is open to the public daily from March to September, 12 noon to 4 pm, Thursday - Sunday inclusive. Claregalway Castle was the chief fortress of the powerful Clanricarde De Burgo or B. Urke family from the early 1400s to the mid-1600s.
