Visiting the Science and History museum was pretty much what I had expected. When I started my internship I was given the same tour and shared the same information. The only difference is that now I have an insiders view on what it actually means to work in a museum and handle artifacts.

Devine states that most historians of the 1970s were being trained to become history teachers, definitely not public historians. He tells the story of how he became an administrator instead of a teacher which he originally wanted to to do.

For my Internship, I was at the Eunice and James L. West Library at Texas Wesleyan. I split my time between the five departments in the library; Circulation, Reference, Tech Services, Periodicals, and Special Collections. I spent eight hours in each department learning the ropes and observing what each department did. The West Library Mission is to serve as the foundation of intellectual life for the campus community. The Tech Services Department is behind closed doors and som.
