Final Response to Independent Reading. June 22, 2012 by heatherjohnson4255. Independent reading is an important part of the school day and can yield substantial results if used correctly in the classroom. Through my readings and discussions I have come across several things that should and should not happen during independent reading time.

I love reading to my children and to my students. I love watching my students sitting on the edge of their seat in anticipation of the story. I love when I look around the room and see my students so engrossed in the read-aloud they are unable to follow the text.
