Why are so many people with disabilities unemployed? April 30, 2012. This is my post for the annual Blogging Against Disablism Day. Put on by the excellent Diary of a Goldfish. As graduation is coming up and many of us are looking for jobs, I wanted to share some thoughts on the greatly documented high unemployment rate for people with disabilities. Currently, the unemployment rates are as follows according to the US Department of Labor.

Ive personally known some very smart, very attractive able-bodied people who have been absolutely crippled inside for one reason or anothertheir weaknesses werent physical; they were emotional.
