I recently had the great privilege to work on behalf of Wines of South Africa at the New York Wine Expo where I enjoyed the excitement, chaos and resulting wisdom that comes from having been Back Stage at a major wine event. Most of us enjoy the odd bit of people watching and I am about ready to argue that there is no better vantage point in the world than the one from behind the pouring table for studying the behavioural patterns of this interesting creature we call the wine drinker.
