Connecting the flipper to the armature. Again we had trouble doing this we had planned on using a round bar to attach it but the bar kept snapping every time it was bent. Wiring the components and assembling the robot. The brackets were made from aluminium and pop riveted into places.

To activate the flipper, a switch was needed. To increase the chance of the opposition hitting the switch, we made a switch which covered the full width of the front flipper. to do this, springs were needed at each end of this surface so the switch could be activated easily. We could alter the sensitiveness of the switch once we had the wiring completed.

In order to lift our arm we are using a sevo which is explained below. We were unsure about how to wire the ultra sonic but one of the lads put up a picture of how it should be done. this made it straight forward for us. We purchased our motors and servo from cooney electronics in dublin. they acted as a middle man to the main suppliers rapid electronics in the uk.

On completion of this project we found it to be very beneficial in honing our bench work skill set and it was very beneficial in gaining knowledge and experience at electronics. It brought the theory of the design and automation module into a practical application and for us created the link between abstract and concrete material. Arms for lifting the bucket.
