This is a wonderful hands on lesson plan for students to discover the Pythagorean Theorem. I would use this in addition to the activities that we completed in class to really drive home the self-discovery of the Pythagorean Theorem. This website gave the back ground of Pythagoras.

My first grade son was doing his homework this afternoon, and he was knocking out double-digit addition problems mentally and not even breaking a sweat.
