A Natural History of Highfield Moss. Thursday, 15 March 2018. Foulney, Roa and Walney Islands. Fortunately my day up in the helicopter coincided with the nicest day of the two weeks! South Walney Nature Reserve. The views of Walney Island are just stunning from the air. Iceland Gull, Warrington town centre. Stick with it, all will change soon.

Mega Flock of Little Terns plus Plenty of Waders at Oare. Mega flock of Little Terns. I paid an evening visit to Oare Marshes yesterday the 6th August in the hope of seeing the large number of Little Terns. That had been reported and wow what a sight it was to , the most i can ever recall seeing in a single flock , the agreed amount was 220 birds roosting on the East Flood , every so often they were spooked by a juvenile gull and took to the air giving a tremendous spectacle.

Birding the Wirral peninsular and beyond. These in turn attracted a Hobby hunting the hirundines. The dairy farm, however has struggled with 3 pairs fledging 10 young.
The last couple of weeks. Since the delights of the Bee-eaters at Theberton, there have still been some really successful trips in the last few weeks. The next bird to go on the list was Nuthatch, where we had tried 3 times for this elusive bird in Shrubland Wood this year and failed. Well, on July 23rd, we finally saw one, calling and moving around the wood with a tit flock.
Fun, Fury and the Furrily Fabulous. I had anticipated nothing more than a quiet walk around Lever park and possibly a stroll along the terraced gardens and, if I was feeling more energetic, a climb up to Rivington Pike to take in the view. Nothing more distracting than that.
Urban Birding at its best. Where are the Docks? Wednesday, 11 January 2017. Due to the gale force winds, hail and rain, very little to no counts were able to be done this evening round the Docks. However, what was countable were singles of Curlew. Along with a roost of 150c Black-headed Gull. Sunday, 8 January 2017.
