Yesterday, I took a quick career mentoring phone call with a post-doc at CUNY Futures Initiative. After I had given her the rundown of what I presume to be my extremely fascinating job and life, the post-doc asked me how I managed to keep one foot in academia with everything else I had going on. I have great coauthors, I told her. Yesterday, I received notification that the first paper.

Lauren vs. Econ An optimistic view on a geneally dismal topic

An optimistic view on a geneally dismal topic. Last week I posted on a chapter in Freakanomics about the relationship between abortion and crime rates. While the chapter provides a user friendly approach to the results, the chapter does not have much evidence supporting the claims made. The research presented in that paper was based on paper written by Donahue and Levitt. Where have all the Criminals Gone? In Chapter 5 of Poor Eco.

Woolf Wilde

When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Between them a spark passed. Their eyes met with a singular directness of gaze. Between them a spark passed which was not afterwards to be distinguished, though neither of them knew the moment of its kindling. Photographer, subjects, unknown. Hand in glove, we can go wherever we please. And if the people stare, then the people stare.

The link between abortion and crime is an extremely interesting viewpoint brought up by the authors. After reading the two papers and the chapter, it is difficult to determine how much of a role Roe vs. Wade played, although I believe there is no doubt played a role. One paper I found particularly interesting is. , Kim Rueben, and Rosenber.

Dr Gresik suggested that one of the major issues surrounding increasing energy prices is the large amount of political polarization hindering process. Only then will energy prices become manageable and consistent.

Chapter 3 of Freakanomics by Steven D. For my research paper and presentation I would really like to look in to the idea of higher education being an equalizer in society. In other words, I would really like to look in to whether or not education education sign.

Fighting Abortion With Crime? The Donohue and Levitt article builds upon the chapter we read from Freakonomics last week. They begin by discussing how the common explanations for the drop in crime in the 1990s did not actually contribute that much. Rather it was Roe v.

I find all of these studies quite interesting. The fact the abortion legalization has an affect on crime at all is pretty astounding, but after seeing the logic behind Freakonomics chapter 4 and these of other 2 papers, it makes perfect sense. Looking into the future, it makes sense to keep abortion legal due to these studies and we can reduce crime in the United States.

The site had the following in the homepage, "A book a week Summer 2015." I noticed that the web site stated " Econometrics and Introduction to Research Links." They also stated " Tips for Students of All Ages. Somalias Ministry of Womens Affairs announced it will introduce legislation to ban FGMC. In my twitter feed, this news was met with exclamations of how its a win for women and such progress. But a little more reading shows that the 2012 Somali constitution already considers FGMC torture and prohibits the practice. And yet, the WHO estimated in 2006."

My life in the Bush. Monday, June 29, 2015. I was so excited when we stepped off from the plane in Anchorage on May 5.
