One of the major challenges in molecular immunology is no longer to identify new molecules but to understand the interaction networks that the identified molecules form. We are directly addressing this challenge by using quantitative molecular and cellular experiments combined with mechanistic and phenotypic models to understand the complex signaling networks underlying immune cell activation. We aim to exploit this knowledge for the benefit of human health.

The Esashi group aims to understand how proliferating human cells protect their genomic DNA against various environmental stresses e.g., radiation, genotoxic drugs as well as those arising from normal processes of cell growth e.g., replication, transcription.
