It Felt Like Spring on a February Morning in the Garden. Every once in a while a February day can bring uncharacteristically warm weather and sunshine. We had one of those last week and it set a record in our area. It was the perfect reminder that the spring season is getting a little closer every day. There are signs of spring all around if you look closely. A bud here and there. Maybe a new green shoot or leaf bursting forth on branches and in the ground.

Food Writing Interim course at the University of Alabama

Interim course at the University of Alabama. 6th short story- perception of Southern cuisine. In my opinion, the best food in the world can be found in the southeast. Maybe it has something to do with southern tradition, or maybe its a combination of immigrants that make it so tasty. Whatever the reason, the south sure knows a thing or two about food. Shaun Chavis said something that really resonated with me in our talk with her today.

I love baking, I love cooking but why, oh why does the end result never look like it does in the glossy pages of the magazines? Is it because the rumors are true, and food stylists have a whole arsenal of none edible tricks up their sleeves to make the food in magazines look appetising? Or did my culinary creations never look as fantastic as the glossy images because I am ham fisted and too heavy handed? This was going to be the proof .
