A cup of tea and a slice of history. Life, history and cooking. What a strange title for a blog post I hear you cry! Well the reason behind it will be revealed later in this post, so now you have to keep reading, right? The inspiration for this post came from reading an article on a brilliant website called The Pool. But what initially drew me in was the quote from Tony Parsons used as the lead in to the link.

From Shackleford to the Somme. April 23, 2015. April 26, 2015. I got to thinking about connections whilst reacquainting myself with the diaries and the contents of my grandads old wooden boxes. There are a number of postcards of what I assume to be comrades or acquaintances of my grandad, some with names written on the back, some not. A quick look at my grandads diary entry for 16th June 1915 quickly revealed the identity of Cpl J.S Corporal Spencer killed in trenches. Seeing he had been awarded th.PARSED CONTENT
The site had the following in the homepage, "I got to thinking about connections whilst reacquainting myself with the diaries and the contents of my grandads old wooden boxes."
