In December of 2009 Gary completed and self-released his first full-length CD of all improvised music with saxophonist Kate Olson,. A native to the DC area and a graduate of the University of Michigan, Gary holds degrees in both Jazz and Contemplative Studies and Psychology. As a member of the Creative Arts Orchestra at the University of Michigan, he played with artists including Pauline Oliveros, Oliver Lake, Steve Coleman, Henry Grimes, Arthur Blythe, and Nichole Mitchell.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Chinese New Year Eve Celebrations! It was the first time that we celebrated our Chinese new year outside of Singapore without our family. One of the saving graces in celebrating Chinese New Year here in Chengdu was that we got to set off fireworks! Which we are not able to do so in Singapore. Let me tell you, the feeling of having the fireworks set off right in front of you, in close proximity, is phenomenal! .
