Free-verse poetry from the soul. Many hurdles to navigate through. A marathon runner every day. Getting better with each passing day. Day in and day out. I pray for the same thing. By His stripes I am healed. And day in and day out.

Many emotions ran through me, gratitude being foremost. I was alive because he died. How many others were alive as well, because of the sacrifice of so many men who left their families, left their children, in order to protect them? I was filled with wonder at the beauty, appreciation of the rich history, awareness of how long man had been sculpting out their place in this country and I was inspired.

And I always loved to write. I traveled to distant lands. I felt my life was full. I had a friend named Jean. Jean was 85 years old. She was a retired nurse. She got sick one day. On one of her last days, she whispered in my ear. I felt a deep sense of regret. And I woke up that day.

Your silence will not protect you. Liquid runs through my bony fingers and drips to the floor it feels warm in my hands and heavy i try to hold it steady as it continues to beat as it continues to pound in my fragile hands which pull it towards my chest and i feel it throb against my body ignoring the fluid drizzling down. Allowing this heart to warm me up. I slept poorly the night after I posted this.
