After quickly showing the first graders in my class how to make a post to our brand new science blog, I was a little concerned with how this little experiment of mine would go. Even with the simplest of platforms that I could find, there are so many steps and I could see their faces filled with confusion and concern while I showed them how it would work.

Now I want to touch on the importance of giving feedback to our students. 8211; Get to know which students are able to hear blunt feedback and take it and work hard to improve, and get to know which students need you to build up their confidence by pointing out what you noticed them doing well and giving feedback that shows you are proud of them.

Learning to be the teacher I hope to be. Here I am blogging again! After months away, it feels both foreign and familiar to be back here. It feels like it has been much longer, and also just like yesterday. How does all of this make. Not only in whole class interactions, but also when working individually with students. I wrote about the importance of creating an authentic context for learning.

The Journey of a Future Teacher. Blog shows how I can provide differentiated instruction and present extension projects to my students. When I would leave comments with my peers I really strived to give words of encouragement and make them think deeper.

Monday, May 26, 2014. A week ago, I had the privilege of turning a small classroom tragedy into an exciting new opportunity to support student learning. I our half day kindergarten classes we have been doing a FOSS science unit of study on animals. In this portion of the unit, I had been teaching the students about goldfish. The first lesson consisted of making a class list of what we already know about goldfish, and what we hope to find out about these fish.
