Blog 8; The Gilded Lions. Asymp; Leave a comment. The art I chose is an image of Gilded Lions that are located in the Forbidden City. Thousands of craftsman and laborers worked on the city between1406 and 1420. The Forbidden City including this pair of art pieces were not complete until after 1700. I have always loved lions, but the Chinese inspire a dragon-like beast in the pieces created during the Ming Dynasty.
It is an acrylic on canvas that is very alive and colorful. The sharp lines and nearly neon colors really jumps out at you and some of the sky and water seem almost abstract-esc.
