Auf der Homepage der Gemeinde Hauteroda! Hauteroda und sein Ortsteil Lundershausen liegen ganz idyllisch in einem Tal zwischen Schmücke und Schrecke, die beide in der Finne enden. Dieser entspringt auch der Helderbach, der dem Tal seinen Namen gab und an dem sich die einstigen Ortsgründer ansiedelten. Das wohl markanteste Wahrzeichen des Ortes ist die alte Holländer-Windmühle, die neben dem Kirchturm, schon von Weitem den vom Heidenhügel kommenden Besucher begrüßt.
