Diese Kolonie zieht mich immer wieder an, wenn ich denn in Longyearbyen bin. Es ist dort nie langweilig! Relativ früh im Jahr, wenn die Vögel noch balzen, sind sehr viele Eidererpel dort zu sehen, die in ihrem weiß-schwarz-grünen Prachtkleid sehr schön und auffällig sind. Eine Eiderentenkolonie zu besuchen, wenn die Erpel noch da sind, ist ein Erlebnis für die Ohren! Mit einer Körperlänge von 70 Zentimetern und einer Flügelspannweite von 160 cm sind Eismöwen beachtliche Tiere! .
