Being the typical clueless American, I lost track of the people affected by Katrina and what is now happening in those areas. On a church mission trip, I found Pearlington, MS more than 19 months after Katrina. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Our thoughts and prayers must be with the suffering people in Haiti. Our church and Presbytery supports Hearts with Haiti.

Thursday, May 26, 2011. Max, The Perfect Dog. This week has been so hard. We had to put Max to sleep last Thursday. My heart hurts so bad. I miss him so much. A part of me died that day. My little blond haired boy. I miss his eyes, his smell, his stubby tail, his solemn sighs as he fell asleep on my bed at night. I took Max home yesterday. His remains are in a gorgeous cherrywood box and it sits on our hearth. As I type through blurred vision and tear. I leave you with some words that sum everything up.

Monday, April 4, 2011. 61 The sweetness of an infant baptism Sealed by His Spirit, washed in His blood. 62 My pretty little girl in her Sunday dress, pearls, and bow running barefoot wild in the backyard with her cousin, a bunch of boys, and a football. 63 Cold beer on a warm afternoon. 64 Birds that sweetly sing outside my window to cheer me out of my horrendous mood. 65 A kitchen full of groceries. 67 A slower-paced morning and no lunch box packing. Thank goodness for those fresh daily mercies. Saturday, December 25, 2010. The dawn of redeeming grace! Longing for the radiant beams from His glorious face to shine on us today, and so thankful for the dawn of redeeming grace that He brings, for we need it so. I can hardly believe it is Christmas morning, and truly cannot fathom that this time next year, we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus with our own little girl. Oh yes, that grace is much needed!
