While the Iranian Revolution and the events leading up to it are complex as they are detailed, Marjane Satrapi manages to condense this difficult time in the graphic novel.
These panels have logos because it shows you how she transformed and what she did. These panels also have ethos because now she more like modern Iranian women. Moving from the traditionalist country of Iran to a more free country like Europe can cause someone to feel out of place in the new environment. Marjane feels pressured to conform to what is normal in the new country she resides in. She wants to make good impressions on her peers and new acquaintances she makes. She then begins to become taken over by the drug.
In the last part of Persepolis Marji returns home to her family in Iran. When she got home there was a lot to adjust to. She had to completely change her style of living from the past four years in Vienna. She now had to wear a veil every time she was in public.
