This mask was created between 1920 and 1940 by either the Betsi or Ntumu group. They were located in Gabon along the Ogooue River. It is made of wood with pigment for the details. It is characterized as a four-faced helmet mask.
Painting below, it shows three women who are in deep thought over a future they can not change. The same contemplative look seems to be on the faces of the women in. I love the soft, pastel color choices, and how she seems to capture a moment in both. She truly loved her country, and expressed it through her work.
