The feeling of autumn is solidified for me by fruits and vegetables. This is the season when pumpkins, squash, and a new favorite, persimmons become available. At a nearby orchard, we were able to pick a couple of pounds of Fuyu Asian Persimmons. Not having picked persimmons before, I was surprised that they couldnt be pulled off of the tree, but had to be cut from the branch. Gardens still going. Upgrade to paid account! Still Searching for Sanity. The Rantings of an Obsessive Grad Student. Sad news on my Road Trip to Omaha. I am currently in Ames, Iowa. My brother, Ian is moving to Omaha for his internship. We made a pitstop at his undergrad, Iowa State. The trip is going well. However, I am quite sad because I found out that my dog passed away today. He was very old, and had cancer and an enlarged hard. I feel both happy and sad.
