에어비앤비 초창기 일화들은 실리콘밸리에서 워낙 유명해서 여러 기사나 풍문으로 토막토막 접했는데, 책으로 보니 쭉 스토리로 연결되는게 마치 무협지를 보는 듯한 매력에 빠져든다. 이 책은 우버 이야기를 하는 챕터와 에어비앤비를 다룬 챕터로 양분되어 있고, 우선 에어비앤비 부분을 골라서 쭉 읽었다. 에어비앤비의 일대기중 사실 나에게 가장 흥미로운 부분은 아주 초창기에 창업자들이 어떻게 시작했고 어떤 결정들을 내렸으며 어떻게 성장했는지에 관한 부분이다. 후반부로 갈수록 각종 규제와 맞서 싸우는 이야기들도 있는데, 난 직업탓인지 초창기에 있었던 삽질이나 어려움 극복해 간 이야기가 제일 재밌다. 아래는 이 책 내용중 인상 깊었던 장면들을 중심으로 발췌및 요약하고 내 설명을 더한 것이다.
