I recently found a journal entry I wrote during my first semester at Vanderbilt. As I read it, I was transplanted back to my room on the Commons. Immediately, I remembered exactly how unhappy I felt. In an instant, I recalled all the nights I cried alone and all the days I felt useless. They were laughing and smiling and playing Frisbee, and I was crying, studying, being painfully awkward, and still failing.

Rav Ahron Lopiansky, Rosh HaYeshiva of the Yeshiva of Greater Washington is a son-in-law of Rav Beinish Finkel ztz l, the former Rosh Yeshiva of the Mir, brings with him decades of learning from the Mir Yerushalayim, and continues the mesorah of his rebbeim Rav Chaim Shmuelevitz ztz l and Rav Nachum Partzovitz ztz l, and has also remained as a close talmid and chaver of Harav Moshe Shapiro for over 25 years.
