I am doing my analysis on. Portrait of Pope Innocent X. By Diego Velázquez of Spain. It was created in Italy and finished around 1650. It is now housed in Rome. This Portrait has lots of reds and that instantly attracted me.
Turns by Kobina Nyarko, 2010, Ghana. Kobina Nyarko is a contemporary artist who resides with his wife and son in Takoradi, Ghana. He was born on March 14, 1972 in the same town he lives in today. He is both a painter and metal works artist. Lately he has been exploring fish symbolism in his works, which has created a trademark style. His paintings often incorporate large schools of vibrantly colored fish, swirling in mesmerizing designs.
The artist uses the modern shapes and dulled colors to help portray his opinion that after WW1 there was a decline in social and moral values. The scene is extremely industrial, which is a huge contrast to earlier visual arts.
I liked that this glass art not only showed what happened in its art but the light that comes through it leads to other parts of the exhibition that tells more parts of the history. It is like art within art, very creative and affective. Posted November 22, 2010 by krystalrolls.
