Pilgrimage blog for the Camino de Santiago. May 22, 2008 by livinginsanmiguel. After thinking about my last Camino. Just about every day since October of 2003. All ready to go looking cool and calm.
Recently retired after 33 years of teaching,I am ready to begin a new life. I feel like the doors have been thrown open and everything is possible. Step one was a leave of absence four years ago during which I spent three months in San Miguel de Allende to improve my Spanish and take silversmithing classes. Later in the year I visited Japan, Thailand,Vietnam,England,Scotland, and Mexico for a second time. Friday, August 20, 2010.
Since midnight Friday night ,. The partying has been going on. At midnight, followed by dancing and events in the Jardin until 4am when las mananitas - happy birthday song to San Miguel, the patron saint of the town is sung and the castillo fireworks are let off for an hour or so. People are fed punch and sweet rolls before they roll on home into bed for a few hours. At 5 in the afternoon.

Monday, February 16, 2015. Sometimes, long after words are written, they are found. Such is the case with a blog entry I made back in 2008. Today I received a beautiful note from one of my readers. They had come across this poem which was cast into stone at the Cosanti Bell Foundry. I included the poem in my 2008 blog entry. The poem was cast by a worker there in 1968. I bought a bundle of 100 beautiful vintage postcards. Recently which were originally printed and then handtinted during the 60s and 70s.
