Friday, July 11, 2014. The community garden plot is coming along nicely this year and we have spent lots of time making sure there are no weeds popping up and keeping it well maintained. Bug damage has been minimal so far and the tomatoes and actually everything else seems to be getting stronger every day. Thursday, September 8, 2016. Digging, pulling and curing. This sweltering summer has resulted in a pretty abundant garden, drought situations, pest issues and lots of lessons on how and why the farmers job can be so difficult and unpredictable. After about 36 hours of open air curing I hauled the harvest over to the picnic table to trim the tops and make the sizeable harvest a little more manageable. A portion of the garlic will be used to plant next years crop as wel.
