Libraries Matter, No Matter What. In May 2007, all four branches of the library in Josephine County were closed due to lack of funding. I am a senior lecturer in History at the University of Hertfordshire. My research focuses on gender, the body and medicine in early modern England. In particular I am interested in issues to do with the health, sex and reproduction. More broadly my research touches upon ideas of marriage, the family and medical practitioners. At the University of Leicester where I teach students about convicts, emigrants, the history of medicine, race, diasporas, Empire and the occasional firefly.
