A Summary of New England Trip 2011. The trip itself was an opportunity of a lifetime that more teachers need to take advantage of! What an incredible journey into our past, all supplemented with interesting lectures, tours, simulations, and collegiality.

Our Boston Field Excursion was truly an amazing experience for this lowly Colorado elementary school teacher. Standing on the grounds and in the buildings where historic events took place helped me to experience these moments in history in a visceral way not possible from books alone. We visited almost every site listed in the Official National Park Handbook for Boston and the American Revolution.

Having spent a couple years living in the New England area, I had opportunities to visit some of the historical sites the region has to offer. I was still a bit raw as a teacher. I enjoyed my visits, took some pictures, and learned some information. As good as I thought those experiences were this trip took all of that to another level.
