I gaze at the flickering flame with thoughts of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Reflections of what was, what is, what will be. As a thousand flickers of dancing flames mesmerize me. I meditate on thoughts unfolding from the recesses of my heart and mind. Like a play with many acts, I sit and stare, contemplating the scenes before me.

There is more to understanding. Than reading people or situations. There is an unnamed force that flows around. Like the wind flowing through the reeds,. An energy that permeates us,. Our pasts, our futures,. And that will touch our children. There is an energy that connects us all,. Binds us in a great flow. That originates in the soul.

Too ugly for heaven, too beautiful for hell. I was one of her best friends. I think she believed it too. She saw I was trying. I even made it to some of the parties in the hills. A face in the crowd. A person to hold the camera for group photos. To stay in the loop.

Fresh Air, Fresh Life. This past weekend I went up to a small mountain village called Midway with my church congregation. This town is precious and wonderful, because it was settled primarily by Swiss immigrants and most of the town maintains Swiss architecture, including the cute paintings on the sides of the buildings.
