Pepe the donkey was grazing in a lane near my home when a black and white cat came out of a farm gate and approached him. They appeared to be friends as they touched noses and followed each other around. I thought they would make a charming painting. I first decided to capture them in watercolour but changed my mind as I think pastel works better here. The medium is pastel on Sennelier pastel card. The image size is 450mm x 300. The original painting is for sale for 200 Euros.

My son and his friend went fishing today, and since I had to accompany them, I used the time to try some little sketches of the gents who were having more success than us at the fishing lakes. So this was all good practice of trying to capture people in real time. The weird shadows are a product of the windows in my kitchen.
