Too cool for school? Has been a particular hit.
The semester is over, and as my fall currently stands, it is highly unlikely I will be returning to the Parkland Project. Hence, this will be a closing blog post in which I share what I learned about public history and myself. From the podcast project, I learned that successful public history contains elements of good journalism, history, and good storytelling. Though they have some overlap, each quality is distinct and important to every project.
The past is a foreign country, they do things differently -L. As the questions surrounding digital humanities and digital history grows, we, the digital and public historian clinicians, must work to disassociate the two digital frontiers. I noticed that the web site stated " Led a project adapting drawings from younger children from the Parkland neighborhood, depicting how they imagined their neighborhood to be." I find things and get them home. Sometimes they are lost, sometimes they are not. This experience brings to mind the note that Cate Fosl made about how some colleagues are disturbed when they hear her talk about the fact that she loves Anne Braden, the subject of her book.
