In 1995, Governor George W. Bush appointed Keel to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the state agency responsible for setting and enforcing minimum standards for county jails, where he served for seven years. During college, at age 20, Keel was elected to a three-year term on the Lake Travis ISD board of trustees. Director, Legal Research Board; Member, Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity. Member, Golden Key National Honor Society.

One such occasion happened just recently when I was asked to help find a way to automate the daily checks the DBA had to perform every morning.
