The Battleship Potemkin is a 1925 silent film directed by Sergei Eisenstein. The point of the film was to convince viewers that Russia was better off under the control of the Soviet Union than under the Tsars. Potekim portrays the sailors and Bolsheviks as heroic everymen, while the tsarists are pure, almost cartoonish evil. Eisenstein did an incredible job of capturing an audience and gaining sympathy for the sailors.
